Easy to install, inexpensive lift.  When installing the fan shroud needs to be moved, all brake lines should be in good condition and pay close attention to them before and after the lift (They make brake.).  Also steering needs to be corrected because the sever angle after the lift.  The kit does come with a new bracket and the firewall does need to be cut but easy enough for the typical Scout owner.

At the same time I was doing the body lift I figure I should replace those really wore out body mound bushings.  Easy enough to do since I was talking it all apart anyway.

WB01050_.GIF (2354 bytes)    Skyjacker Softride 4" Springs sk_logo.gif (11910 bytes)

A slight tougher job.  Takes a bit of work to take everything off, so the usual torch and grinder really come in handy here.  Overall the quality of the springs are excellent, no complaints on my end.  Front driveshaft angle is a bit too severe for me and I'll be taking care of that as soon as possible but in the mean time I just change u-joints more often.

I really (Really) killed that set of autos that came with the Scout.  Not that I do any heavy 4 wheeling or anything but without rebuild kits available for them and me too lazy to get out and lock them when I really needed to, the drivers side ended up as a pile of metal and plastic and grease.  Not a pretty picture when I took them apart (and of course this happened during the biggest snow storm in years...).  Anyway I decided to go with regular manual locking hubs (basically for strength.).  I liked what I heard about the SuperWinch brand and also they where used on "Project Tonto".  So I went for them.. I'm happy so far.

WB01050_.GIF (2354 bytes)    TSM rear disk brakes

The Streetrod Manufacturing had a great kit to convert the rear Dana 44 to disk brakes.  It uses GM calipers (you need to supply), re-dilled rotors (you can supply or they can order from them. I recommend just getting it from them), all the brackets and hardware needed for the brackets.  You still need caliper bolts, brake lines and the bolts that hold the line to the caliper.   The kit was really easy to install and works great, I can't believe how great I can stop now.  I do recommend getting a adjustable proportioning valve to get the rear just right but some people have said they didn't need it.
